DATN
Player is a television-like interface for the Digital Academic
Television Network for Mac OS X. It provides:
- on-screen
remote control, channel list, and viewer
- fullscreen
playback without QuickTime Pro
- channel
name and number and other status overlays
- channel presets
- basic
support for closed captioning where available
- support
for the Apple
Remote
- capability
to accept input
from external A/V control systems
- fully scriptable
interface
DATN
Player can play any content QuickTime can play, and
retrieves its channel list from a MySQL database. The ability
to add channels and use DATN Player without a database is planned
in the future. DATN
Player requires QuickTime
7 and Mac OS X 10.4 or newer. A similar web-based solution
for multiple platforms is planned. DATN
Player is currently not supported by DoIT.
DATN
Player is developed by Brian Deith of the UW
School of Journalism and Mass Communication, and is provided
to the University of Wisconsin community. Please report bugs, feedback,
and comments to datn-player-feedback@datn.wisc.edu.
